mograph.si

Made for the people who make things move. In production.

Motion is off, so each scene shows its drawings as onion skin. Tick Motion to play them, or drag down a scene’s frame columns to flip through them.

Sc.2

Spacing is the move.

Both dots take 12 frames to cross. The first is spaced evenly. The second slows out of its first key and into its last. Same timing, different spacing, and only one of them has weight.

Even, 12 frames
Slow out, slow in, 12 frames

Sc.3

48fr3′00

Ones or twos.

The same move, drawn twice. On ones there’s a new drawing every frame. On twos each drawing is held for two frames: half the drawings and a different texture. Neither is wrong. Choosing is the job.

On ones, 13 drawings
On twos, 7 drawings

Sc.4

48fr3′00

Back up, then overshoot.

Going straight to the mark is correct and lifeless. A small move back says something is coming. Passing the mark and settling says it had momentum.

Straight to the mark, 12 frames
Anticipate and overshoot, 17 frames

mograph.si is in production.

It’s for animators, motion designers, title designers and the studios that hire them. There’s nothing to sign up for and nothing to buy. What it becomes will be shown when it’s ready to be judged on its timing.

Everything on this page runs at 24 frames per second, on ones or twos, exactly as the sheet says. Each row is one frame. Drag down a scene’s frame columns, or focus them and use the arrow keys, to flip through its drawings.
